Math Mania
As I believe I have mentioned, James is still working on addition and subtraction. He full understands the concepts, but is awfully fond of his fingers and is not very fond of large numbers. It’s something we work on everyday.
He decided yesterday he wanted to learn multiplication, yelled it actually from the bathroom. He does skip count like a champ, and yet, in a patronizing way, I said we would wait until he was more solid on adding and subtracting. A couple of times he tried to tell me 6×6 and I kept saying, “No, that’s not 6×6, that’s 6+6.”
Finally, frustrated (and apparently done), he audible sighed and said, “I’ll show you.” He proceeded to draw 36 dots in a 6×6 square.
“Oh, yes, that’s 6 times 6. You’re right.”
I’ll be beginning to teach multiplication along with addition and subtraction, although apparently I’m a little late in teaching the concept.

wow he never ceases to amaze me!
Now, if that isn’t child-led instruction, I don’t know what is, LOL.
He showed you. That is the wonderful thing about home schooling, the teaching often takes care of itself.
