More odd things going on

At the park today, we saw a hawk being attacked by a flock of smaller birds; they were protecting their eggs.

Hours later, two cars pulled up and out of each, two separate groups of teenage kids emerged. “Act natural,” one was overheard saying. Then, two police cars arrived.

Mimicking the birds we saw earlier, the moms at the park swarmed around the children, as the teenagers, now officially labeled thugs swarmed the play equipment, keeping in touch with each other threw their phones, hiding amongst the equipment, the benches, the kids. Act natural. One was arrested, others were given tickets, spoken too, park day was over.

One would think. given the events of the past week, I live in an area engorged with crime. Honestly, this is not the case. We (used to) joke about how difficult it was to get an attention from the police if it was needed, because this area was considered low risk, safe, and if anything happened, it was minor, not dangerous, and the police had more serious things to handle. Now, I’m not so sure.

I wonder how much of this has to do with the failing economy, and how much is just coincidence, bad luck. I have two acquaintances whose landlord’s have not been paying their morgages and their houses are going in foreclosure, I have friend’s without jobs. I am fortunate, that the economy has not hit us hard yet, and yet, the butterfly effect, everything has it’s touch. How are you fairing? Have you been effected? Do you feel any strain? Any worry?

Foreclosure is rampant. No doubt about that. I think no matter where you live and when there are kids acting up. We certainly have that all over our town.

We were walking out of the library today and two boys starting fighting. The girls with them totally starting giving them heck for starting in front of children, gave them a huge tongue lashing and the boys hunched over and wandered away.

    I love Canada :)

We do not drive at all during the week. The kids and I walk to all our activities and to get groceries. Gas here is crazy expensive and we are saving for this great vacation in Maine this summer :P

Bless your heart!!!! It’s not safe here anymore either. What is this world coming to?

The park situation sounds a little scary.

We are not suffering here yet, but we can feel it at our heals. The food prices are definitely going up and so is gas. Where we live there has been a boom and although it has levelled off, it is still fairly strong, but as we know ‘all good things must come to an end’ and the end is coming, I’m sure.
