No rest for the wicked

I say vaguely that I live outside L.A., but that’s a great stretch, just to put me on the map for those of you who are unfamiliar with Southern California. I rarely, rarely (once a year), go to L.A., for flights, a museum, something, because we are so out in the middle of nowhere. So, I sit here, exhausted, having made the trek twice in 3 days.

Saturday I went to the Children’s Hospital to donate blood for my friend’s daughter (her surgery is on Tues.). I was by myself in the was for 2 whole hours (yes, it only takes an hour each way if there’s no traffic!). And today, James and I met some friends to go the zoo. We left at 3 and got home at 5. And that’s not even the worst of the traffic. Hmm, wonder why I don’t go to L.A. more? However, I obtained my objective, which was to see Reggie the Alligator, something of a local legend, a pet who was released into a local lake. It took 2 years to capture him and he now lives at the zoo.

My brother in law visited this weekend as well and we went to a Civil War reenactment. It was interesting, and interesting trying to see James figure it all out.

I need to download some pictures and I want to blog about the trip to Maine and my Maine unit. Really. In my free time :-) .

Wow. I just talked about donating blood on my post tonight before I read this. You have inspired me.

Yes, to the pictures! Thanks for your lovely comment!
I don’t know if I have told you or not, but 17-18 years ago I tried to live in Ca 2 different times. Once I lived there 3 mths. One side of the road was Santa Anna and the other was Costa Masai. I live on the Santa Anna side. The other time was over the bridge in Orange Co. Do you live near them?
Sorry, But I’m a country girl. I would love to come back and visit, but not live.

I so do not miss that traffic! I do miss the adventure of it all!

Oohh that’s a lot of traffic, but it sounds like it was worth it – I LOVE going to the zoo.

Well between that and the blood donation, it sounds like you’re all caught up on your good deeds, so just rest and stay out there in the middle of nowhere – that’s where they want us homeschoolers at anyway. ;-)

Hi Kitten – I live in Riverside county, which is 45 minutes from Santa Ana too. My friends joke that I am at least 20 mintues from anywhere, even the grocery store. But, then I can be in L.A., at great museums, in an hour. Like I said, I do that about 1x a year :-) .
