65ish Good wishes
As I mentioned, I am participating in Project Spectrum, and I am planning to do more sewing. Well, here is a project that has been packed away for . . . 4 years.
It is tradition, in northern China, to make a quilt of 100 good wishes for a new baby. This tradition has been taken up by adopting parents, often it helps pass the time waiting. My guess would be that more our made by adopting parents now than in China, but this of course, has no basis in fact.
So, I dutifully collected my squares, however, there you see them. I did make James two quilts before he came home, but I never finished collecting the 100 squares and wishes. I’m about 36 or so short (I’ve saved his shirts from his first teams to add in so my numbers are a bit approximate), but I think I’m 36 short.
If anyone would like to send one, or two, or 36
, I have my e-mail address under “About,” please e-mail me for the details. I plan to sew them up according to the Project Spectrum guidelines, however, feel free to send any colors at any time. I don’t plan to finish until the end of the year. It will be a 5 year anniversary gift (our 4th anniversary will be soon, and you will be hearing about it).
If you happen to know my address and are going to send them without asking, please make them at least 7″x7″ and include a small piece with the wish because I will make a book with the wishes, the pieces, and your names to go with the quilt.
I will finish it one way or the other, 36 or so wishes, worded differently, that all mean, “Listen to your mother.”

What a super idea. I love your last line, so funny. I will give it some thought. Good luck in finishing it up. I look forward to seeing the end result.
Hey! that sounds like a good idea! I may do one after my ABC meme blanket. Give me a month or so and I’ll send you some. Do you have my email address?
My meme is up.
I forgot to add in, if you’re having trouble, like Marla mentioned, getting to the site, could you mention it. And Marla, could you elaborate. Is it not loading? Is it slow? Thanks!
You are amazing. What a wonderful project. I wish I would have known about that when we were waiting to adopt M. Very cool!
So loving this concept! I *may* just have to work on one each for the children … err by the time I would finish for their children!??! hehe
I was in a fabric store today and in between blowing my nose and browsing I spotted the coolest Wonder Woman fabric and thought of you. Probably not what you had hoped for a quilt for James
I am so going to send you some fabric once I have some. Sadly I gave away every last scrap I had before moving back to Canada to reduce our weight on the moving truck.
Wow 100 wishes … that is amazing. I am jumping on the Project Spectrum ride, I just need to be rid of this cold and back in the game.
