Some glitches and a meme aka Back to our regularly scheduled program
So, I can’t seem to get the internet to agree to switch me over when I comment on people’s blogs. I think that Google is resisting letting me go by even the smallest fraction of a hair. I’m hoping that I (I am so going to love the cross out text, Blogger didn’t do that) Darren can work that out. In the meantime, I will still be commenting from the old blog. And, I haven’t figured out how to put a “Contact Me” button on the blog, so for the time, my e-mail is in the “About me” page. I assume that I need to search for a widget or whatever it is one must do with WordPress but at the time that sounds strickingly like work. It didn’t come with this template, so it will be a week or so until I try to really fix it.
Chelle  tagged me with a meme, the five top reasons I love writing. Now, I considered ducking, under the pretense I don’t really consider myself a Writer, capital W, more a rambler, lowercase r. But, since some of you actually sit through my rambling, that didn’t seem fair. So, I’ve given it some thought, and here we have it:
1. For connections. I have, at times, kept a journal, for all of about, 5 seconds. I’ve considered those people, of olden times, who kept a diary, just for themselves, and thought I could be one of their ilk. And then, I grew bored of talking to myself. So, if my audience if one or only slightly more than that, I write with an audience in mind. Exhibitionist.
2. To be a better person. Truth is, if I put something on the blog, I am more likely to follow through. So, my compost has been started, but my groundcover has not been planted. I most likely will sew more this year, but not renew my piano playing. Perhaps it is just that those things which are the most important to me make it to the blog. Chicken, egg? Who knows, but I still say it keeps me honest.
3. To clarify my own thoughts, illuminating the shades of grey, navigating moral waters. I wish to live consciously, and yet, it is easier to say, “Cloth. paper. plastic. biodiesel. natural gas. hybrid. organic. local. free trade. Whatever.” Writing gives me a place to sort out my own thoughts without spending time that should be living deciding.
4. Words are powerful. Transforming. Not mine necessarily.
5. I fear the forgetting. My grandmother had Alzheimer’s for years (and years) before she died. Will having my daily thoughts make the loss any easier, if it comes? Not for me most likely, but perhaps for James. He will have his childhood from my perspective, with my love, with the day to day rambles. And I hope it’s enough.Â

To comment you have to put in your “nickname” and then this address on blogger, some do not allow that and you have to comment through blogger.
These reasons to write are great! Blogging is the cheapest therapy ever!
I started a blog to record things and keep things straight. Sirdar had one for a few years and I did a guest post when he got his appendix out. I would read his most days after that and the comments and then started reading a couple others like the neighbour’s and another person on his blog roll. When I decided to do it, it took me a month to come up with the name. I love the audience too. I find now that I really like the comments and getting to know people through their blogs and comments.
You have been tagged! I’ll come back later and read this.
That is very good resons to blog.
This is a tough tag, I think. Very good reasons you have here. I have been having a hard time getting your blog to open for me. ;( Not sure what is going on. Possibly something on my end so I will ask my hubby about it tonight.
Hi. I tagged you for a different meme. It’s easy and fun. Here it is: http://sometimesitsabitch.blogspot.com/.
